Just before my break I decided to switch it up and take the leap of faith in myself, learning a new build/style with all the bumps in the road. Against Terran, I always started “Standard ZvT” which means Speedling expand into quick 3rd. Then Ling/Bane into LBH.
Now after the break I think I wasn’t ready yet. What messed up my games the most was a solid lack in fundamentals. I got the ViBE B2GM build down quite a bit, but probably not as well as I thought I had. I more or less introduced new concepts to that style to increase my win rate, because I felt that enemies had learned to counter that style. At that point I already lost focus on my actual goals, since win rate is not a 1:1 measurement of improvement.
To make it short and wrap this one up: I am now back to strict ViBE B2GM. I set my goals and put down some measurable benchmarks, so I can focus on those instead of the real game result. To emphasize my focus away from MMR and placements I also skip the vs AI warm-up game now. When I start playing, I spin up OBS Studio, start streaming and hit the “Find match” button.
